Look Up!

Psalm 19:1,2- “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

In a video I saw this week, the night sky was ablaze with stars. Immediately, I started yearning for the days when I was a child and my parents took us kids camping. We’d lay on our blankets at night and watch the spectacle.

In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah said there were so many stars they couldn’t be counted. Over the centuries, it has been tried many times, however. In 2003, an astronomer ventured a guess at 70 Sextillion. (That’s 70, followed by 21 zeros).

How can anyone look up at the night sky and say there is no God… no Creator?

Romans 1:20 says God has made His presence, his eternal power, and His divine nature plain to everyone.

All you have to do is look upward.

It Motivated Me

Psalm 100:5- “For the LORD is good: His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

“Unbelievable,” my husband exclaimed. He held up his empty package of pork rinds (I know. Gross, huh?) and showed me what he’d discovered.

On the back of the cellophane was this verse in Psalm 100!

There are many creative ways for Christians to get God’s message out!!

I may never know who is responsible for the packaging of those pork rinds, just as others may never know the small ways in which each of us takes part in the Great Commission. But giving God the glory is the point—not seeking a pat-on-the-back from others for being obedient.

The verse displayed on this snack food purchased at the dollar store, encourages me. I hope it motivates you, too.

The Blind Man

John 9: 6.7- “After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. My father also had it, so I knew first hand that this could lead to blindness.

On the way home from my doctor’s office, I thought ahead to what this might mean for my future. Not being able to see colors, sunrises/sunsets, my children’s faces, read/write books, and so on.

Later, during Bible reading, I came across the passage about the blind man that Jesus heals. As I pray daily for healing for my own disease, I imagine Jesus applying cooling mud to my eyes and restoring my sight to what it once was.

Will my eyes be healed or does God have a different plan for me? That I don’t know.

What I do know is that the blind man’s faith healed him. So, each day I pray for increased faith, too.

If you have a physical or mental ailment and are in need of healing, read the many stories of miracles in the scriptures. I pray that your faith will be increased and you, too, experience Jesus’s healing touch.
