No Substitute

Acts 4:12- “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

A friend of mine is a substitute teacher.

I have used riced cauliflower as a substitute for potatoes.

I often use a sugar substitute in my cooking.

“Off brands” of cologne don’t often have fragrances that “last,” but they cost far less.

Substitutes.

Not the “real thing,” but since they often serve the same function as the “original,” many of us find them acceptable.

However, the verse above tells us that there is no substitute for Jesus Christ. The Bible says that it is only through Him that we find salvation.

We cannot earn our way to heaven through “good works” or by following any other human being or god.

It’s not a matter of religious affiliation.

It is relying on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

There simply is no substitute!

Pray for Healing

2 Chronicles 7:14- If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

One night after King Solomon had finished building the temple, The Lord appeared to him. The words He spoke are just as relevant today as they were then.

This verse is often quoted in times of disaster.

The pandemic we are experiencing is reason enough for all of us to daily reach out to God for help… for mercy.

Could we have any more reason to compel us to pray for our country and our world?

There is no doubt that He loves us. He promises to hear our prayers.

More than that, He promises to bring healing to our world.

If we only will humble ourselves and

PRAY.

Eternal Life with Christ

Revelation 1:18- “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Because Jesus took the cumulative sin of all mankind on himself at the crucifixion, he was completely cut off and separated from God the Father. He was punished in hell for the past, present, and future sins of every man.

In order to be restored back into fellowship with His Father, he had to be “reborn.” Revelation 1:5 says Jesus was the “first begotten from the dead.” And, He is now seated at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

When Jesus ascended, all believers were also brought to eternal life with Christ. That is why we are able to say, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”  Galatians 2:20.

All mankind was identified with Him in death, but only those who believe are identified with Him in His resurrection.

Twenty Seconds Well Spent

6901715309_8fcf5ae555

Psalm 55:17- “Evening and morning and at noon will I pray to the Lord, and cry aloud and he will hear my voice”

I am learning a lot as I spend an increased amount of “alone time” here at home.

The first thing I learned is that I’m not alone. I feel a deep and abiding joy as the Holy Spirit ministers to me.

The biggest thing I am learning is the importance of prayer in the life of believers. He is teaching me not just how to pray, but actually to pray more often and in every circumstance—for family, friends, and the people of the world.

Here’s an idea I’d like to pass along: as you spend your twenty seconds of hand washing time over the course of the day, send up a prayer and praise to the Heavenly Throne each and every time.

That’s it.

Nothing earth-shaking.

Or is it?

I can tell you, it’s rocking my world!
