Don’t Settle

Matthew 7: 9-11 ““Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

As we prayed for our home to sell—for eight long months—God kept assuring us that He would bring the buyers of His choosing . . . and the timing would be perfect for both us as sellers—and the other party as well.

He did just that. It couldn’t have been better.

We began to look for a new home. Each one we found had some kind of “issue” that caused us to continue searching.

Then, God led us to our “dream house.”

I was in tears as I thanked God for a home that far surpassed our expectations.

I opened the Bible for my morning devotional time with God and read this verse from Matthew 7.

It blew me away!

God reminded me that He is a good father.

He wants to give us good things—if we will only trust Him and wait on His timing!

Don’t settle for a “stone” when God wants to give you “bread”!

Where is She?

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

In the United States, the story of a kidnapped grandmother has captured the hearts of many.

Conversations these past couple of months have inevitably led to queries of where we think this woman might be—or if she is even alive.

Her family testifies to her strong faith in God, so we can know one thing for sure.

If she is not here on earth, she is with our Heavenly Father.

Could it possibly be as simple as that?

Yes, it is—for believers.

The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord.

What It Means to Me

Hebrews 12:2-“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I wear a gold cross around my neck.

Everywhere I go, I see people wearing crosses, too.

Why?

To some it is simply a piece of jewelry, but to Christians, it is symbolic of being a Christ follower.

It does not have magical powers.

“Jesus’s cross” did not have any power either.

The power was (and is) in the person upon the cross.

Jesus Christ, the perfect one, paid the price for the sins of all mankind upon that cross.

That’s why we wear it around our necks—a symbol and remembrance of what He did for us.

His resurrection from the dead is the power we recognize at Easter—and everyday—as  we give thanks for His great love and mercy toward us.

Alleluia,! He is Risen!

He is Risen, indeed!
