Mom Taught Me How to Blow Bubbles

1 John 2:25- “And this is what he promised us—eternal life.”

My mother wasn’t perfect; but she was the perfect one for me.

She taught me how to embroider, to ride a bike, and blow giant bubbles with Bazooka Bubble Gum.

In my eyes, she was beautiful.

I miss her soft hands, the twinkle in her eyes, her encouragement, her unconditional love.

I still listen for her voice, the shuffle of her feet, her laugh.

The sweet way she said my name.

If you’ve lost your mother recently, as I have, my prayer for you today is that you can rejoice in the small things you remember about her and in in knowing that this is but a brief time apart.

One day you will reunite.

And spend eternity together.

A Proverbs 31 Mother

Proverbs 31: 25-28- “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

When I think of a good mother, I think of mine. That’s how it should be.

As I remember my mother’s good qualities, I think of Proverbs 31.

Although these verses are written about wives, they are just as applicable to mothers. A good wife and a good mother share many—if not all—of the same qualities.

An amazing mother inspires those around her.

Why?

Because she walks with honesty and dignity.

She laughs and enjoys life.

She is wise and shares her knowledge with her family.

She runs her household well. She is industrious—a hard worker.

No wonder her husband and children are thankful for her!

It’s a blessing to be a mother—to provide a home that is secure and welcoming for family and friends.

On this special day, I thank God for Proverbs 31 Mothers everywhere.
